Future Profession

Amy likes to take pictures - see if you recognize yourself.

I could go on and on!

Fishy, fishy in the Brook

The Boggio family got some fishing in this summer. We all enjoy it. Here are some of the catches!

Fourth of July we all took turns reeling in this bottom feeder.

John and Rocco went fishing on Lake Michigan and caught some King Salmon.

John caught these when we were canoeing on the WI River with church.

The fish weren't really biting for our weekend in the Lake Tomahawk area but the kids did catch some frogs.

What a rush!

The Boggios were in the Dells last weekend. Rocco and Amy went on their first "real" roller coaster rides. Amy was only big enough for one (which she loved) but Rocco got to experience three of them at Mt Olympus Theme Park. The biggest one, Hades, takes you underground, in the dark. Here is the historic moment captured on film as they descended under the parking lot.

Our friends, the Leedle Boys, are sitting behind them Mason and his dad Jeff.

Despite how he appears, Rocco loved it!

Take me out to the Ball Game!

So we think Amy has attended one too many Brewer Games this year (We have been to three). She was eating some shelled peanuts for a snack and this is where she disposed of her shells. Right on the kitchen floor.

We had a little talk about how the baseball game and Texas Roadhouse are the only places where you can throw your peanut shells on the floor. Or at The Showboat in the Dells, but she has 16 years before she is legally allowed into that place!!

Happy July!

Here is how we left the house this morning!!

Here is the picture we took of our big brother after her picture was taken.

I love the casualness of summer and my in-laws!!

Wise Decision?

See what happens when you leave heavy, earth moving equipment parked in front of our house?

The Boggios take over. We even tried looking for the keys to the bulldozer in an attempt to do some landscaping to our front yard. No luck!

Compass Presentation

Sunday evening was the year end celebration for Rangers and Rangers at church. Amy achieved her Honorary Rainbow pin by earning all possible badges over the last two years.

Rocco began attending Rangers two and half years ago. Most of the boys in his group started when they started Kindergarten. He also earned all possible badges for his group along with three other boys. That had never been accomplished before and all the boys were presented with a compass. We are really proud of him.

I also would like a tiny recognition as I have sewn on all the badges on the kids vests and have a bunch to put on Rocco's vest too as he earned a bunch in this last quarter. It may take me all summer.

A Star is Born

Well the long anticipated recital ocurred last Saturday. I have tried several times to load the video from dress rehearsal but I think it is too long and won't upload. It wasn't very good quality but would have given you a flavor. Amy LOVED being on stage. The recital was great. I really enjoyed all of the performances. Amy's song was second to last but it was totally worth the wait. They darkened the stage between each number. For the first show, Amy walked across the stage and back again before she found her spot to start the song. We will be taking a collection for all future recitals in the event Amy is in more than one number. Some of the girls performed five or six times. Knowing Amy's costume was $40, and you start multiplying that....Ouch! It will be worth it though. She has totally been on cloud nine.

Now imagine some maracas, bright orange.

We are pretty sure Rocco was her biggest fan.

I need to get ready to do it all again next year. I was exhausted for the next two days.

Brewer Fun

We were invited to the Brewer Game by John's boss and all the kids got to meet Bernie Brewer at the pre-game tailgate party!

And what Brewer Game would be complete without meeting the Italian Racing Sausage?

Brewers crushed the Reds that night!

Did you hear...

That our baby is five years old?

We had Kindergarten Orientation that week as well and she is all ready to go now! Her and Rocco will have class rooms close to each other so she is very excited!

Progress

So like two years ago we were notified of progress happening across the street from where we live. The vacant grocery warehouse property was going to be developed into an upscale shopping center.

Last year in the Spring they started tearing it down. My hope was to have a time line showing the change as it occurred by taking a picture each month from the same spot in our driveway to see how the changes have occurred. This is how it looked at the beginning.

The last picture I took last year looked like this.

Then I got really bad at taking pictures but if memory serves there wasn't a whole lot to see except them flattening out a lot of dirt. Over the winter they started construction on the Target and new Pick N Save grocery store, but again, not a lot to see as basically the foundations were being laid.

Last week, Target had it's annual shareholders meeting at the new store. This is our view now.

Target is suppose to open at the end of July as is Pick N Save. They are widening the street and will begin tearing up in front of our house shortly. We are getting some free landscaping out of it so that should be sweet. I am getting my wagon ready for my short trip to go shopping.

Best Dressed

We have been blessed, with both of our kids, to have friends who have given us tons of hand me down clothes. The most recent box of clothing we received contained this dress.

When I showed it to Amy stating it will be perfect for Christmas, she proclaimed "I have been wanting this dress since I was three years old!!"

And for those of you who are trying to leave comments but are unsuccessful, keep letting me know. I am not sure what the problem is as I have the settings set up to keep it as simple as possible, I think.

The Rocco Show

So it is just me and the kids as John is up North for the opening weekend of fishing. The weather is finally spring like so we spent the afternoon out in it on Sunday. We migrated to our neighbor, Betty's, and Amy began entertaining us. It took a couple of takes as I had to explain she had to wrap up with her "big finish" on my signal. By this time Rocco was part of the act, juggling Betty's recyclables. We are so green we even use them as toys! Ha! So here is the Rocco Show with Amy providing the musical accompanient.

Hot, hot, hot - Preview

Okay I apologize for the crooked neck you will get but I was trying to get only OUR star in the video. I always forget that the whole thing will be sideways. Here is a preview of Amy's recital dance. The girls got their costumes tonight and got to try them on and strut their stuff for the parents. Get your tickets for the recital now! Amy will be starting the dance off by herself on stage, shaking her maracas!

The Pinewood results

Bog The Vth here... SO it was the area pinewood Derby on the 11Th. 90 some odd cars showed up. Rocco reset his tires and graphite. But while his car still looked awesome it lost one tenth of a second somewhere and that was enough to put him in fifth place which he got a nice trophy and some stage time. It was really special this year for him. As I have said before we have been doing this for three years now and have had some success. But this year The only thing I did on Rocco's car was to help him with the layout and cutting of the car, drilling some holes and not letting him handle the lead weights. The rest he worked his tail off for and with his car finishing in the trophy times at both races he seemed very satisfied with his results and proud of what he accomplished. Both races he was at the top of the overall speed charts and he already has next years car planned so we will have to see how that goes.
Amy's car got much faster and put into the division it was supposed to be in. She won first place in the open division. She got a trophy as big as her and a huge hug from her older brother. She was grinning ear to ear and I think we have created a monster. She is pulling out paper and trying to design a car for next year.
As for the adults well Becky got put into the open division as well. Unfortunately her car ran in fought place and they only trophy'd out to third so my lovely wife who beat the heck out of me by one one thousandth in the outpost race did not medal at this area race. But my lovely yellow slice of pure speed did what I thought it could. It won a whole bottle of windshield washing fluid and black magic dash cleaner for winning first place in the leaders division. So for the outpost race we were 4 for 4 on the podium. For the area race we went 3 for 4. Not bad for a small race team with a name like Fat Tony's. There is no funny or cute things to be said. There is just the pictures you see before you. What we won this year and what we have one over the years. Good luck to all and god bless.
P.S. Amy wanted to dress up on the day we took pictures so that is why she looks so good. That is also how hse went to home depot to build some bird house's. She sure can dress well!

Spring Concert

We were treated to the Prairie Kindergarten, 1st Grade, and 2nd Grade Spring Concert last night. It was standing room only but very nice. Rocco was dreading it as music class is not his favorite and I'll confess his teacher isn't one of my favorites. The theme was Holiday songs so they sang about Christmas, Valentine's Day, Easter, President's Day, Martin Luther King Day, and even the Iditirod Trail. Who knew that this is a holiday somewhere? Here is our handsome boy. His tie fell apart so he borrowed one of Dad's.

P.S. Don't worry an update on the results of the Area Pinewood Derby will be coming shortly!

Bikes and Cereal

So we got a little taste of Spring here over the weekend and it is continuing into the week. The kids hit the park on the weekend. I love taking them as to me it is truly a measure of growth. How much quicker they can climb up to the slides or arm swing across the parallel bars. Rocco is so tall now his feet could touch the ground on one of the pieces of equipment if he would just bend his toes to the ground. Last year, during the Memorial Day Weekend garage sales in Pardeeville, my mom bought bikes for the kids, as Rocco needed one, and Amy of course should have one too. At that time and really all last summer Amy's bike was too big for her. She never really could move around on it too good. Yesterday, John put air in the tires as the temp was to hit 60 degrees. Amy climbed on her bike, wearing her Sunday dress still and hasn't looked back. She LOVES her new bike and I predict, once summer is officially here, she will be ready to attempt without the training wheels. Here is a little peek!

Don't worry, our dear Rocco is still around. He sweetly requested that I purchase the cereal that had the Lego Racer cars in it on my trip to the grocery store tonight. I found it (Lucky Charms in case you need one too) and purchased as promised. Of course he wanted to open the box IMMEDIATELY. I told him that he has to eat all the cereal before he can have the car that is always at the bottom of the bag. Enter Bog. Rocco says "The car is separate from the cereal!" To which Bog replied "Do you want to bet?" Rocco state "Yes!" and offered $0.30 as a wager. Bog and Rocco shook hands to seal the deal and Rocco opened the cereal box. He pulled the cereal bag up and out popped the car in a little separate wrapper. Are you kidding me? John and I were in disbelief and Rocco has 30 of his father's hard earned living in his bank tonight!

Sorry for the Delay

Sorry for the delay in this post.

First I went on a women's retreat over the weekend. It was great! We had a fun time. The theme was a 50's revival. Included is a picture of us dressed for the sock hop!

Wednesday night was the long awaited Pinewood Derby. The Boggios swept the field!!!! The kids, Rocco and Amy, placed 2nd and 3rd respectively in the Ranger Kids Division. This will be Rocco's third trophy. Amy was pretty excited about her first trophy!

In the Leader's division, The Becky Lee was the car to beat (mine) and John came in a close second. We plan to perform the same at the District Derby in two weeks. We'll let you know what happens! We are very excited with our standings from last night!

Fat Tony N Sons Speed Shop 09 Models

Alright Bog here. The reason you have not seen much of Rocco on this site is that he has been busy. He has been building the perfect race car for his pinewood derby. It is a long story about how it started, but at church we have a group similar to the cub and boy scouts called royal rangers. This will be his third year. And to kinda make sure the Dads don't take over the car there is a division for Dad's and well as you can see by the picture Amy and The Beckster get cars as well.Rocco is a Star Wars fan. So for his car he chose to make a replica of the Anakin Skywalker starfighter from the Clone Wars series. Rocco designed and assembled the car himself. No I did not let him use the band saw. He polished the wheels and did the entire paint job himself. The only help I offered was helping him set the wheels, cutting tape with an exacto knife for his paint job, and setting the weight with him telling me where he wanted the lead. My lovely bride was challenged to build a car by some Friends who are also Commanders in the Ranger organization. They were building cars and told her she should build one as well. The Beckster's is based on the 1969 Plymouth roadrunner. Both Hers and Amy's are sponsored by Fat Tony N Sons Speed Shops. This is the name of my workshop this time of year it was voted on by the entire family and that was the name chosen. I think it will finish the races and has a chance to medal. Amy has the pink car with the purple flames. She picked number the number four because she is four years old. The car is based on the Le mans series 24 hours of Daytona cars. She picked the paint scheme and has helped more than I thought she would. She gets to enter a car in the Rainbows division. The rainbows are like an entry group, you go there before rangers and the girls side which is called Missionettes. Bog the Vth (this will be explained in a later post) grew up a huge fan of SPEED RACER. My most favorite episodes always included Speeds older brother Rex, otherwise known as The mysterious RACER X. I always wondered how no one knew who he was in the show but I digress. RACER X drove the shooting star. A yellow slice of pure speed. I did my best within the limits of the dimensions to match the shooting star and it looks close. What with the bucket seats, Hurst four speed slam shifter and race inspired steering wheel. I know it is a little over board but hey hunting season is over. But we as a family have fun with this. Rocco has won some trophy's in the past and I hope he wins with this car most of all because he has a whole bunch of time invested in it. For those who see this and have time still booked to come to the speed shops for help we are not closed. In fact we have already started designing next years cars. All I can say is does anybody have any dimensions to the Homer??

Daddy needs a new pair of shoes!

On Friday night Bog and Amy were playing Yahtzee Jr. When it was Bog's turn he yelled "Daddy needs a new pair of shoes!" while shaking the dice cup. Amy proceeded to yell out needs of clothing items (PJs, pants) as well when it was her turn. I was listening to this while doing some quick chore while Amy was occupied. On Saturday, Amy and I sat down to play a round of the game as well. I hadn't really played before and knew we were missing a couple pieces so asked Amy to tell me the rules. Here is what she relayed to me:

"You shake the dice in the cup and while you are shaking you yell out words for something new! Then you place your cards on the board depending on what dice you get."

Yahtzee Jr is a little different than the grown up version. Still try to get five matches of something but there are cards and board that you place your cards on. Our's is the Toy Story version which Amy calls the Woody Game.

It was my turn and I started shaking the cup. Amy reminded me "Mom, you need to ask for a new piece of clothing!" She believes that this is one of the rules you have to follow while playing the game. It is the cutest thing!

Hope you are all well.

More dance from our star. You should see the information packet we got at lessons for the recital in June. We may be in over our heads and wallets!! :) Girls have to have matching tights, having two pair will give you more security (at $9 a pop), the girls have to wear the hair a certain way, photos or video can only be taken during dress rehearsal, not during actual recital, but you can purchase a professional DVD at $35 of the recital. Reassured Amy will never be on the reality show Toddlers and Tiaras with the psycho moms. Fortunately I am not that competitive!

Hope you are having a great weekend!

We attended the Prairie PTA (Rocco's school) family event last Saturday which was the Marquette Women's basketball game. They handed out score cards that has a team picture on it. Rocco and Amy both wanted to hang theirs up in their rooms. Amy talks about the team, which she calls the Marquettes, like they are her close personal friends because she was there to cheer them on.

Welcome to the first post on our blog. I created this blog in hopes of finding a way to share on a more regular basis the fun and trials of the Waukesha Boggio Family. I have not set up any profile or anything yet so we are still under construction but here is a video (hopefully) of our future star . Amy loves her dance class.
